At the Evangelical Church of India, we are driven by a divine vision to transform lives and communities through the power of the Gospel. With 13 dioceses spread across the nation, we are committed to fulfilling our mission of planting 1 lakh (100,000) churches and nurturing 1 crore (10 million) believers in India. Our church planting ministry is at the heart of this vision, as we strive to bring hope, healing, and salvation to every corner of our nation.
Our Vision
Our vision is rooted in the Great Commission, where Jesus commanded us to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). We believe that the establishment of local churches is the most effective way to disciple believers, strengthen communities, and spread the love of Christ. Through our church planting efforts, we aim to:
- Reach the Unreached: India is home to millions who have yet to hear the Gospel. Our church planting initiatives focus on reaching remote villages, urban slums, and marginalized communities with the message of salvation.
- Empower Believers: We are committed to equipping new believers with biblical teaching, discipleship, and leadership training to ensure sustainable growth and spiritual maturity.
- Transform Communities: By planting churches, we seek to address social issues, promote education, and provide humanitarian aid, bringing holistic transformation to communities.
Our Strategy
The Evangelical Church of India employs a strategic and Spirit-led approach to church planting:
- Identifying Leaders: We train and empower passionate, godly leaders who are called to plant and pastor new churches.
- Community Engagement: Our teams work closely with local communities to understand their needs and build relationships of trust.
- Discipleship and Training: New believers are nurtured through Bible studies, worship services, and leadership development programs.
- Sustainability: Each church plant is designed to become self-sustaining, ensuring long-term impact and growth.
Our Impact
Since its inception, the Evangelical Church of India has planted thousands of churches across the country, leading countless individuals to Christ. Our ministry has touched lives in rural villages, bustling cities, and tribal areas, bringing hope to the hopeless and light to the darkest places. The ECI Lydia Women’s Fellowship (LWF) was founded on April 12, 2004, by our beloved Father Bishop, The Most Rev. Dr. M. Ezra Sargunam, along with the late Bishop Amma Mrs. Mangalam Ezra. Since its inception, LWF has been dedicated to empowering women spiritually, socially, and economically. Under the leadership of The Rt. Rev. Mrs. Kathiroli Manickam, the daughter of Father Bishop, LWF has witnessed tremendous growth and transformation among women in our churches.
Our mission is to uplift, inspire, and equip women to become leaders in their families, churches, and communities. Through skill development, spiritual guidance, and community support, we strive to create a world where every woman can thrive and fulfill her God-given potential.
Empowering Women Through Skill Development
One of the key initiatives of LWF is the Annai Mangalam Tailoring Institute, which provides women with vocational training to achieve financial independence.
These women received their tailoring certificates upon completing their training.
Prayer Request: Pray for these women to find stable employment and support their families.
Our Vision and Goals
The vision of LWF is to empower women who are oppressed, marginalized, and forsaken by society. We aim to:
- Launch LWF in Punjab and Jammuto reach more women in need.
- Introduce more tailoring centersacross our 13 dioceses to help needy women and encourage their participation in church activities.
- Inspire young girlsthrough the “Young Lydias” initiative, targeting the age group of 13-23 years, to become future leaders of the church.
- Celebrate spiritual growththrough programs like Samaritan Women and WINGS (Women in Need of Guidance and Support).
- Encourage women to become church plantersand contribute to ECI’s centenary vision of planting One Lakh Churches by 2056.
Celebrating Milestones
- Young Lydias:We praise God for the successful celebration of the third anniversary of Young Lydias in the Chennai Diocese. Thousands of young girls attended the conference and committed their lives to the Lord.
- Tailoring Schools:Many ECI pastors have requested the establishment of tailoring programs in their churches. Each school requires 5 to 10 sewing machines, with each machine costing 6,000. Your support can help us empower more women and share the Gospel with those who hear it for the first time.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14
At the Prayer and Revival Department, we believe in the transformative power of prayer. Our mission is to ignite a culture of prayer within the ECI congregation, fostering spiritual growth, revival, and a deeper connection with God. Through systematic prayer initiatives, we seek to cover every aspect of our ministry, our nation, and the world in prayer, trusting in God’s promises to hear and answer.
Our Prayer Initiatives
The Prayer and Revival Department has established several initiatives to encourage and guide believers in their prayer lives. These initiatives are designed to create prayer awareness, unite the ECI family in intercession, and bring about spiritual breakthroughs.
1. ECI Prayer Guide
By God’s grace, the 14th edition of the ECI Prayer Guide in Tamil and English was prayerfully dedicated and released on January 26, 2024, by our Bishop President, The Most Rev. Dr. David Onesimu, at the IMM Conference held at Hope Cathedral, Villivakkam.
The ECI Prayer Guide is a powerful tool for believers and pastors, offering:
- 31 days of focused prayer pointscovering all dioceses, departments, related ministries, and individual and family needs.
- A call to pray for our cities, states, and nation.
- A dedicated page (Page 7) to honor the legacy of our beloved Father Bishop, The Most Rev. Dr. M. Ezra Sargunam, with prayer points related to his ministry and services.
This guide is designed to help believers develop a systematic and disciplined prayer life, ensuring that every aspect of ECI’s mission is covered in prayer.
2. Diocesan Chain Prayer
The Diocesan Chain Prayer initiative ensures that prayers are lifted up to God 24/7. Each area, diocese, or department takes responsibility for 12 hours, with individuals praying for 30 minutes each. This continuous prayer chain is a sweet incense before God’s throne (Revelation 8:4), and we have witnessed the fruits of these prayers in our ministry.
3. Weekly Prayer Points
Every week, we provide five systematic and focused prayer points, accompanied by relevant Bible verses. These points are carefully prepared with much prayer and effort. So far, we have covered all the prayer-related verses in the New Testament and are now progressing through the Old Testament, currently in 2 Chronicles.
The weekly prayer points are structured as follows:
- 1st Week:For Bishop President, one HQ department, one diocese, and one Bible college.
- 2nd Week:For the Diocesan Bishop, Bishop’s Commissaries, one department of the diocese, one area of the diocese, and specific needs of the local church.
- 3rd Week:Devoted to missions – IMM goals, the missionary of the month, Malto children of the month, a specific people group, and missionaries/Malto children sponsored by the local church.
- 4th Week:For one district, one state, one country, one government department, and specific needs of the church.
- 5th Week (if applicable):Devoted to contemporary prayer needs.
Our heartfelt desire is that all 13 dioceses and every pastor in ECI churches will earnestly pray for these points. “If we don’t pray for ECI prayer points, who else will pray?”
Our Vision for Prayer and Revival
The Prayer and Revival Department envisions a church deeply rooted in prayer, where believers are empowered to seek God’s face, experience personal revival, and intercede for the world. We aim to:
- Foster a culture of continuous prayer within ECI.
- Equip believers with tools and resources for effective prayer.
- See spiritual breakthroughs in our churches, communities, and nation.
- Honor the legacy of our leaders by covering their vision and ministry in prayer.

At the Relief & Development Department, we are committed to serving the most vulnerable in our communities, reflecting Christ’s love through practical acts of compassion and care. Over the past two years, we have focused on advancing health awareness, supporting differently-abled children, and providing vital assistance to the children of our pastors through initiatives like the World Help Project and our Happy Homes. Our work aligns with the WHO Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in the areas of health, education, and well-being.
Our Key Initiatives
1. Health Awareness Programs
We believe that healthy communities are the foundation of a thriving society. Our health awareness programs target critical issues affecting families, especially children:
- Substance Abuse Awareness:We launched a campaign to educate parents and teachers about the dangers of substance abuse, empowering them to protect the next generation.
- Combating Malnutrition:Through diet education, we are addressing malnutrition in urban and rural areas by teaching parents how to prepare balanced meals for their children.
- Stress Management for School Children:With rising stress levels among students, we conducted workshops to help children cope with academic pressure and emotional challenges, aiming to reduce the alarming rate of student suicides in India.
2. Supporting Differently-Abled Children
We provide monthly assistance to 10 differently-abled children of ECI pastors, covering medical expenses and supporting their growth and well-being. Many of these children are now enrolled in college and on the path to securing jobs. We continue to pray for their success and for their parents, who tirelessly care for them.
3. World Help Project
The World Help Project supports 150 children of ECI pastors by funding their education. Twice a year, these children gather to share their experiences, write letters to their sponsors, and receive educational funds. One inspiring success story is Rev. Jayakumar, who, after benefiting from the program, completed his Master’s in Theology and now serves as the Principal of the Bible School in Javadu Hills.
4. Happy and Mercy Homes
Our Happy Homes provide a loving and nurturing environment for orphans and semi-orphans across India. Currently, we operate seven Happy Homes, each dedicated to the holistic development of the children in our care.
- Unchamala Happy Home (Gujarat):Home to 37 children, this home emphasizes education and self-sustainability through farming.

- Kolkata Happy Home:Housing 21 children, this home is nurturing future leaders, including Master Suraj, who is training to become a pastor.

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” – Matthew 25:40
Join us as we serve, uplift, and transform lives, one act of kindness at a time. Together, we can make a lasting impact for the glory of God.
At ECI Vision Trust International (VTI), we believe in the transformative power of God’s love to change lives, families, and communities. Since our inception in 2004, we have been dedicated to reaching out to the most vulnerable children in India—those who are orphaned, abandoned, impoverished, or in extreme need. What began with just 100 children has now grown into a ministry that impacts over 1,000 children across 22 Grace Learning Centers (GLCs). Our mission is to develop these children into mature Christians who Live for God and Love Others, equipping them to become future leaders and pillars of the Church.
Our Mission and Vision
Our mission is to provide holistic care to marginalized children, addressing their physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs. Through our Grace Learning Centers, we aim to:
Educate: Provide academic support, school supplies, and tuition fees to ensure children attend school regularly.
Nourish: Offer highly nutritious meals daily to promote physical health and well-being.
Heal: Meet basic medical needs and provide special care for children with critical health conditions.
Transform: Mentor children spiritually, helping them grow in their faith and become disciples of Christ.
Our vision is to see every child in our program grow into a transformed adult who lives for God and loves others, impacting their families, communities, and the world for Christ.
Our Ministries
1. Grace Learning Centers (GLCs)
Our 22 Grace Learning Centers are the heart of our ministry. Each evening, after school, 91 committed teachers tutor and mentor the children, while local ECI pastors oversee the centers. The GLCs serve as a bridge to reach non-Christian families and communities, bringing hope and the love of Christ to those in need.
Educational Support: We provide school uniforms, books, notebooks, and bags, and pay tuition fees to ensure children can attend school without hindrance.
Spiritual Mentoring: Christian teachers help children grow in their faith through Bible studies, prayer, and discipleship.
Community Outreach: GLCs are often the first point of contact for families in new mission fields, opening doors for evangelism and church planting.
2. Food Provision Support
We provide nutritious meals daily to the children in our GLCs. For families in extreme need, we also extend food provision support, ensuring that no child goes hungry.
3. Deworming and Health Awareness
We conduct health awareness programs, including deworming sessions, to promote hygiene and prevent illnesses. Children are taught the importance of washing hands, drinking boiled water, and maintaining good hygiene practices.
4. Special Care for Gypsy and Tribal Children
We operate three GLCs exclusively for Gypsy children and one for the Irular tribal community. These centers have broken barriers, with children like J. Gayathri and M. Venkatesh excelling academically and inspiring their communities to value education.
Our Spiritual Mentoring Framework
Our ultimate goal is to see children grow into transformed adults who Live for God and Love Others. Through our spiritual mentoring framework, we aim to achieve the following outcomes:
Live for God (2 Corinthians 5:15)
Understand the Gospel and Believe in Jesus Christ (John 3:16): Children learn that salvation is by grace through faith in Christ.
Meet with God Daily (Jeremiah 29:13): Children develop a habit of prayer, Bible study, and obedience to God’s Word.
Surrender to Follow Jesus (Luke 9:23): Children learn to surrender their will to God’s leading.
Serve Christ in Their Work (Colossians 3:23-24): Children develop godly character and strive to honor Christ in all they do.
Love Others (Luke 10:25-37)
Share the Gospel and Disciple Others (1 Peter 3:15, 2 Timothy 2:2): Children learn to share their faith and make disciples.
Help Those in Need (Luke 10:25-37): Children develop a heart to serve and give to others.
Love Their Spouse (Ephesians 5:22-33): Children learn the values of a loving and faithful marriage.
Love Their Children (Psalm 127:3, Ephesians 6:4): Children understand that children are a gift from God and should be raised to love and follow Him.
Our Impact
19 students have completed their graduation in various disciplines, with 69 students currently pursuing higher education.
Gypsy and tribal children are breaking barriers, excelling academically, and inspiring their communities.
Children like Rev. Jayakumar, who was once a beneficiary of our program, are now serving as leaders in the Church.
