We praise and thank God for the successful leadership seminar organized during 4-6 October 2017 at Hyderabad. With a wider vision to train next generation leaders, ECI organized this three days of leadership seminar for selected 80 leaders comprising both Moseses (Senior leaders) and Joshuas (Next generation leaders). Having both senior and younger leaders together for leadership training was very helpful for the growth of the church. Younger leaders were able to learn from senior pastors and at the same time, senior leaders were also able to understand what the younger generation is expecting from them.
Leaders who attended this seminar are holding leadership positions in the church as Bishops, Associate Bishops, Bishop's Commissaries, Area Chairmen, Bible School Principals, ECC Leaders, IMM workers, Pastors and incharges of other ECI related ministries. We present below a brief report about this Leadership Conference.
Bishop Ezra Sargunam took the inaugural session and taught on Characteristics of Leadership. Rev Conda Lashley, missions pastor at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church near Charlotte, NC, took three sessions on “Jesus Model of Leadership”, “Leadership Role of Laity” and “Biblical Ethics of Church Leaders”. Rev Steve Gittinger, pastor of Whetstone Christian Church in Anderson IN, also took three sessions on “Biblical Shepherds”, “Leadership under God’s authority” and “Devotional life of John Wesley”. All these seven sessions were beneficial for all the participants. On the closing day, Bishop Sundar Singh gave a closing challenge. All the participants were motivated to have Jesus as a model in their leadership role. Bishop said, “Centenary Vision of ECI to plant 100 thousand churches can be realized only by following Jesus”. During the Conference, members from all the 11 Dioceses were given a chance to lead in singing during the sessions. All the teams were able to lead the singing so meaningfully and helped the participants to praise and thank God. There was also sharing and prayer time for ECI Bible Seminaries and Schools, Indian Missionary Movement, Every Community for Christ, Lydia Women Fellowship, ECI Centenary Vision and North India Ministries.
